Gabriel Quintero is a Venezuelan classical guitarist based in the Dominican Republic. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Stetson University, where he studied under Dr. Orlando Roman and received a full scholarship awarded for artistic merit.
Gabriel began his musical training through El Sistema in Venezuela, where he developed a strong artistic and technical foundation from an early age. Throughout his academic and professional career, he has worked with internationally recognized guitarists and pedagogues, including Bruce Holzman, Dr. Eladio Scharrón, Dr. Adam Kossler, and Dr. Stephen Robinson, in addition to participating in masterclasses with artists such as Scott Tennant, Ana Vidović, Manuel Barrueco, and Kim Perlak.
In 2023, Gabriel received the Premio Líder Internacional for Solista Líder de Guitarra (Leading Guitar Soloist), and in 2020, he was honored with the Andrés Segovia Award. In 2019, he was recognized among the Top 20 Young Guitarists in the United States by the National Association for Music Education, as a member of the All-National Honor Guitar Ensemble. He also served as a featured soloist with the Stetson University Guitar Orchestra in 2022.
As a performer, Gabriel has appeared extensively as a classical guitarist throughout the United States and the Dominican Republic. His performance experience includes appearances in renowned venues such as Steinmetz Hall, Opperman Hall, and the Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito. He has participated in concerts, performances, and tours across major cities, including Miami, Chicago, and New York City, with additional performances throughout Florida, California, Minnesota, Iowa, Kentucky, West Virginia, Indiana, Washington DC, Maryland, and Alabama.
A strong advocate for contemporary and Latin American repertoire, Gabriel performed the premiere of The Walls by Brazilian composer Sergio Assad alongside renowned guitarist William Kanengiser at Florida State University in 2018. This experience further shaped his artistic interest in contemporary creation and underrepresented repertoire.
His artistic work focuses on the research, interpretation, and promotion of Latin American and Spanish guitar music that remains overlooked within traditional concert programming, combining technical refinement with a deep commitment to cultural expression.
